History of Mendocino Village Mendocino was founded in 1850/1851 and a center of the logging
industry on the Northern Coast. Many of the historic buildings remain.
- The Kelly House Museum, built in 1861 by William Henry Kelly, a Canadian who came to Mendocino in 1857. He once owned
most of land encompassing Mendocino Village.
- John Dougherty House and its historic water tower were built in 1867 is a copy of an 18th century New England saltbox. The original settlers of the logging industry in Mendocino came from Maine.
- Mendocino Presbyterian Church built in 1868 is the oldest continuous Presbyterian Church in California. Tours are held every Saturday from 10 to noon.

Beachcombing, Tide Pools and more.
Birdwatching walks are available every Saturday in Mendocino. Walks are sponsored by the Mendocino Coast Audubon Society. Bring binoculars and warm clothes. Canceled
when raining.
Art Gallery Open House every second Saturday between 5 and 8 pm. The local Galleries open their doors, open new Art Shows and hold Artists reception on this evening.
Parks Headlands State Park surrounds the Town of Mendocino on 3 sides and provides convenient paths for a casual walk with breathtaking ocean views. Sit and watch whales as the frolic in the ocean (November - April).
